Welcome to the Party that never ends!

So, here we are - the latest in my ideas but one I hope that I will have the time and inclination to continue and develop. Time will tell but never let it be said that my intentions were not good!

Anyway, so this is what I intend to do. At least once a week, I will sit down at the laptop with a glass of red next to me and put down what is on my mind with topics varying from the serious to the not so serious - depending on my mood, what has happened during the week and perhaps most critically, how many glasses of rouge that I have had!

To ensure that it isn't completely full of self indulgent tripe, I will also share what wine I am having so at the very least, you may find a new wine to try. As some of you may know, Trish and I love our vino so there will always be something worth sharing on that front.

In the true spirit of the online world, please feel free to comment, debate, sledge etc on what I have said and the wine I am drinking. Going down a one way street without any diversions is kind of boring so I welcome your comments - one and all.

So enough of the preamble...Enjoy.
Cheers
BM

  1. Insightful to say the least... and probably appropiate since tonight I have a glass in hand, perhaps not a red, but nonetheless an alcoholic beverage...
Politics is indeed one topic amongst many that have been currently dicussed in our household. My son turned 18 this year and one of his questions to me was whom should I vote for? I did ponder the thought, should I leave him to read your post....
Seldom do I impose my opinions or for that matter other peoples; on my children, rather I leave them to read and evaluate what is available to them. They are the next generation of voters, I am keen to see what they make of it all. Most 18 year olds are not interested in politics. Should the age be raised to 21?
What I do find extremely difficult this time around is both parties policies. I myself am having diffulty deciding...and I can't say I have always been a staunch Labour supporter, (My friend Rosemary the lawyer would be horrified to hear this), on the day the election was called, I was around for drinks at her place and we all had to be quiet, because Julia was making her speech, I wish I could be so passionate about it, whatever happens now by the end of August we will have our answer..

  2. A very well presented post BM - One which I'm sure will spark much conversation among many of your readership (both online and offline) in the months and years ahead.

Not sure whether I'm more excited about finding out about new wines that I haven't tried or getting fully engaged in a blog (This is my first blog response ever!)

As for the "Rant" - I totally agree that many people are puppets to their parents when it comes to voting traditional party lines and this scares me when you have a world that is changing at such a rapid rate. As a result I believe that we need a total overhaul of our government structure to make people finally stop and actually think about what they want their community, country and world to be like.

Personally I believe that we need to have leaders who are not puppets themselves (driven by party factions in the background) and rather people who are independent in thought and influenced by reality rather than popularity.

Anyway, a good start to a good idea mate - Bring on the ramblings!
